Terms & Conditions
These Terms apply, as relevant, to participating mosques, authorised administrators and users accessing OurMasjid services.
Additional contractual terms apply to participating mosques under their applicable Mosque Service & Data Processing Agreement.
1 OurMasjid Platform
OurMasjid provides digital infrastructure intended to assist mosques, prayer facilities and community organisations in communicating information to their communities.
Services may include:
- public mosque directory listings;
- public community web and mobile portals;
- mosque digital displays;
- prayer and Iqaamah time displays;
- Quran and Hadith content;
- mobile and web portals;
- announcements and community notices;
- events and programmes;
- Janazah notices;
- Ramadan and Eid information;
- donation and campaign information;
- banking or payment-link displays;
- administrative content-management tools; and
- other mosque and community digital services.
Features may change as the platform develops.
2 Participating Mosques and Authority
A person establishing or administering an OurMasjid account on behalf of a mosque must have appropriate authority from that mosque or its responsible management body.
A participating mosque is responsible for designating the persons authorised to administer its OurMasjid account.
OurMasjid may reasonably request confirmation of a person’s authority to establish or administer a mosque account.
Additional rights and responsibilities between OurMasjid and a participating mosque are governed by the applicable Mosque Service & Data Processing Agreement.
3 Administrator Accounts and Security
Administrator access is restricted to authorised persons.
Administrators are responsible for:
- protecting their login credentials;
- using appropriate passwords and available security controls;
- preventing unauthorised access to their account;
- using only accounts they are authorised to access;
- maintaining accurate administrator information; and
- promptly informing OurMasjid if they reasonably suspect that an account or credential has been compromised.
Administrator credentials must not be knowingly shared with unauthorised persons.
Activity performed through an administrator account may be recorded for security, accountability, troubleshooting and audit purposes.
4 Mosque Content
Participating mosques are responsible for content submitted, managed or published by their authorised administrators through OurMasjid.
This may include announcements, prayer information, events, images, circulars, programmes, committee information, community notices and donation information.
Participating mosques must ensure that they have appropriate authority and rights to provide and publish their content.
Public Publication Choices and Directory Controls
Participating mosques control whether their information is published to the public internet through their account settings.
Mosques may choose:
- whether to make their Community Page publicly accessible;
- whether to be listed in the OurMasjid Public Directory; and
- which supported categories of mosque information are publicly displayed.
Important Note on Directory Listing vs. Community Page Availability:
Enabling a Community Page while leaving the Public Directory listing disabled allows community members to access the portal via direct link or the mosque’s TV display QR code without the mosque appearing in the OurMasjid homepage directory.
However, leaving the Directory listing disabled does not password-protect, restrict or make private an enabled Community Page. Anyone with the direct link or display QR code can view the page. To make a Community Page completely inaccessible to the public, the mosque administrator must disable the Community Page setting.
OurMasjid does not claim ownership of original content supplied by participating mosques.
A participating mosque grants OurMasjid a non-exclusive permission to store, process, reproduce, resize, transmit and display its submitted content to the extent reasonably required to provide the OurMasjid service.
OurMasjid generally provides the technical platform and does not routinely author or independently verify mosque-provided content.
Nothing in these Terms removes any responsibility imposed upon OurMasjid by applicable law for its own acts or processing activities.
5 Compliance and Responsibility for Published Content
Participating mosques are responsible for ensuring that content published through their accounts—including on public Community Pages and in the Public Directory—complies with applicable laws, regulatory requirements and relevant directions applying to them.
This includes, where applicable, requirements concerning:
- reviewing and approving all information selected for public publication;
- ensuring that the mosque has obtained all necessary authority, permissions or consents before publishing personal information (including committee member names, contact persons, telephone numbers, emails or photographs) to the public internet;
- ensuring displayed announcements, events, religious timetables and banking details are accurate;
- privacy and personal data under applicable data-protection law;
- intellectual property and copyright;
- defamation;
- unlawful or harmful content;
- public order;
- financial or charitable activities; and
- applicable mosque or trust regulatory requirements.
A mosque must not represent that OurMasjid authored, verified or approved mosque-generated content unless OurMasjid expressly did so.
Specific indemnity, liability and regulatory-cooperation obligations between OurMasjid and a participating mosque may be established in the applicable Mosque Service & Data Processing Agreement.
6 Donations and Financial Separation
OurMasjid may provide functionality allowing participating mosques to display:
- bank-account information;
- banking QR codes;
- payment links;
- donation campaigns;
- contribution targets; and
- related information.
Unless expressly stated otherwise for a particular service, OurMasjid does not receive, hold, escrow or transfer mosque donation funds.
A donation initiated using bank details, a QR code or an external payment link displayed through OurMasjid is a transaction between the donor and the relevant mosque or payment provider.
Participating mosques are responsible for:
- ensuring displayed banking and payment information is accurate;
- maintaining appropriate financial records;
- issuing receipts where required;
- managing refunds or payment disputes;
- complying with applicable accounting and regulatory requirements; and
- ensuring funds are used and administered appropriately.
OurMasjid may provide tools through which authorised mosque administrators record contribution information, but such functionality does not by itself make OurMasjid the recipient or custodian of the underlying donation funds.
The public display of mosque banking information, contribution instructions or payment links through a Community Page or directory card does not make OurMasjid a party to any donation, transfer or financial relationship between donors and the mosque.
7 Acceptable Use
Users and administrators must not use OurMasjid to:
- gain unauthorised access to another mosque’s account, systems or information;
- bypass or interfere with access controls;
- introduce malware or harmful software;
- intentionally disrupt platform operation;
- impersonate another mosque, administrator or organisation;
- publish content they do not have authority to publish;
- infringe another person’s intellectual-property or privacy rights;
- use the service for fraudulent or unlawful purposes;
- intentionally publish material prohibited by applicable law; or
- use OurMasjid in a manner that materially threatens the security or availability of the platform.
We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect users, participating mosques, the platform or comply with applicable law.
8 Prayer Times and Religious Information
Prayer times and other calculated religious times displayed through OurMasjid may depend upon:
- calculation methods;
- geographical information;
- configured mosque settings;
- administrator adjustments;
- external data sources; and
- local mosque practices.
Participating mosques are responsible for reviewing and approving the prayer-time configuration used for their mosque.
Where a mosque uses manually approved or adjusted times, those authorised settings will normally take precedence over automatically calculated values for that mosque.
Calculated information should therefore be reviewed by the relevant mosque before being relied upon for local religious scheduling.
9 Suspension, Delisting and Content Takedown
OurMasjid may reasonably restrict public Community Page access, delist a mosque from the Public Directory, or remove content or suspend account access where necessary because of:
- a serious security risk;
- unauthorised access;
- material breach of these Terms;
- unlawful use;
- significant risk to another tenant or user;
- a valid legal requirement;
- a legitimate takedown request requiring investigation; or
- grounds established in the applicable Mosque Service & Data Processing Agreement.
Delisting a mosque from the Public Directory or disabling public Community Page access does not necessarily terminate the mosque’s account or prevent internal use of digital displays, unless full suspension is required.
Where appropriate and legally permitted, we will seek to communicate with the participating mosque concerning significant restrictions or account actions.
Immediate action may be taken where reasonably necessary to address a serious security issue or legal requirement.
10 Service Availability
OurMasjid aims to provide a reliable service but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
Availability may be affected by:
- internet or network connectivity;
- power failures;
- hosting or infrastructure failures;
- display hardware;
- third-party services;
- software faults;
- maintenance;
- security incidents; and
- events outside our reasonable control.
OurMasjid may perform maintenance, security updates and platform improvements where reasonably necessary.
When a mosque deactivates its Public Community Page, OurMasjid applies standard technical directives to indicate that the page is unavailable. However, OurMasjid is not responsible for, and cannot control, the indexing, retention, or caching practices of independent third-party search engines, web crawlers, or external archives.
11 Platform Updates
OurMasjid may update, improve, replace or discontinue platform features as the service develops.
Where reasonably practicable, participating mosques may be informed of material changes significantly affecting their use of the service.
12 Intellectual Property
The OurMasjid platform, software, original interface designs, branding, trademarks and original platform materials are owned by or licensed to OurMasjid except where otherwise stated.
Use of OurMasjid does not transfer ownership of OurMasjid intellectual property to a participating mosque or user.
Participating mosques retain ownership of their original submitted content, subject to the limited permission required for OurMasjid to host, process and display that content in providing the service.
Third-party materials remain subject to the rights of their respective owners.
13 Privacy and Data Protection
Personal data processed through OurMasjid will be handled in accordance with the OurMasjid Privacy Policy & Platform Data Notice and applicable data-protection requirements.
Participating mosques may have independent responsibilities for personal data that they collect, enter, manage or publish through their accounts.
Additional data-processing obligations between OurMasjid and participating mosques may be established in the applicable Mosque Service & Data Processing Agreement.
14 Third-Party Services
OurMasjid may rely upon or provide access to independently operated third-party services, including hosting, communications, banking, payment, mapping, prayer-data or other technical services.
Third-party services may have their own terms and privacy practices.
OurMasjid is not responsible for independently operated third-party services except to the extent required by applicable law or a specific agreement.
15 Limitation of Liability
OurMasjid will use reasonable care in providing the platform.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, OurMasjid will not be responsible for indirect or consequential losses resulting solely from circumstances outside OurMasjid’s reasonable control, information incorrectly entered or published by a participating mosque, or unauthorised use resulting from a user’s failure to reasonably protect their credentials.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any responsibility or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Specific commercial liability and indemnity arrangements between OurMasjid and participating mosques are governed by the applicable Mosque Service & Data Processing Agreement.
16 Termination
Participating mosques may terminate their use of OurMasjid according to their applicable Mosque Service & Data Processing Agreement.
OurMasjid may suspend or terminate a participating mosque account in accordance with that agreement, these Terms and applicable law.
Information following termination will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy & Platform Data Notice, applicable agreement, operational retention requirements and applicable law.
17 Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms where reasonably necessary because of changes to:
- OurMasjid services;
- applicable law;
- regulatory requirements;
- security requirements; or
- platform operations.
The current version will be published on OurMasjid.lk with its effective or last-updated date.
Where appropriate, participating mosques or administrators may also be notified of material changes.
18 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka.
Any dispute relating to these Terms will be dealt with according to applicable Sri Lankan law and, for participating mosques, any dispute-resolution provisions contained in the applicable Mosque Service & Data Processing Agreement.
